This song had a really cool ambient feeling to begin with, but when the percussion hit, became a really strong leading piece. I like the syncopated feeling you were able to get with the percussion, it's always much more interesting to have syncopation in a beat rather than a simple back beat. As a drum teacher by profession, I approve of your use of percussion to accentuate your songs strengths, rather than just simply "throwing in" some percussion just to have percussion. Very nice song!

IglicaV responds:

Yeah, I actually planned to make an ambient song, but when I added percussion, I decided to make something with more life in it :). It's great that you liked it, and thank you for your comment!

I listen to more of your work after hearing "Gates of Heaven" and this pieces is equally as amazing. The melodies are so pretty, and the way the harps are harmonize together is truly beautiful. I was going to give this a 4.5/5 since it would be really awesome to listen to this track if it was remastered. But then I realized that part of what makes this song so awesome, is it's retro RPG like sound. It reminds me of something that would be in one of the first Final Fantasy games or really any NES RPG. I love your work, definitely can't wait until you release your next track!

Bardash responds:

Thank you once again for your review.

I am hoping one day to remaster the track, but this version of the song has grown on me over the years. It was my first publicly released track and people seem to love it the way it is.

Thanks again for listening.

Damn that's epic. It started off strong, and there was never a dull moment in the song. I really liked the percussion, strings, and choral aspects of the song. the percussion gave the song a really cool rolling feel. Definitely could picture this as a song at the beginning of a battle scene in a movie, showing both sides setting up, with the soldiers all glimpsing at their memorabilia of their families one last time before charging into battle. You can probably tell I got a very specific feeling from this song. I really love it though, awesome piece. I'm excited to hear what else you come up with!

Bardash responds:

Thank you for listening and for your review!

I am glad you enjoyed the composition.

Nice piece. Very nice for a cinematic song. My only criticism would similar to that of SoundChris, the percussion would have been awesome if it was a bit louder. Otherwise, really solid piece. I listened to it a few times through, and really enjoyed it :)

Sounds like the choir is saying "Teemo" and that terrifies me. But on a serious note, the drums and string instrument (not sure what it is exactly, and I feel slightly embarrassed admitting that) were neat at around 1:05. But at the 1:55 mark was where the piece started to get really cool. Definitely made my head bob, in a nice chill and relaxed sort of way. I like the unique sound and style you have going on in this piece :)

RyeGuyHead responds:

I have no idea what they're saying, haha. Why would Teemo be so scary though?

Don't feel bad that about not knowing the instrument. It's a "Chinese Guzheng Zither"...so, yeah...

Unique is never a bad thing :D

As far as the concept and tone goes, I think this is a pretty cool piece. I just would have liked to have heard you elaborate a little more on the piece rather than just have 1 or 2 different sounds/instruments. I'd love to hear this piece in the future if you ever do take it any further!

AlxEllis responds:

Thanks for the review, I'll admit this one was a little rushed, I uploaded it more to see if people liked the sound I currently had before expanding it, I tried to get the "Resident Evil" mansion theme style, the sort of "looming" threat if you get me.

I will definitely be extending this one, thanks for the review :)

I like the muffled sounding rain at the start. It added quite a bit to the piece. I would have liked to have heard it just fade a bit more to the background when the vocals started, rather than fading out completely. But otherwise, awesome sounding vocals, my only qualm with this piece, is that it is too short.

etherealwinds responds:

Sometimes I like to keep pieces shorter when I feel I've put everything I can into that certain piece, rather than making it longer for the sake of it being longer and it having parts that don't fit, you know? ^.^ I'm glad you liked it!

I'm definitely liking the westernish melody, along with the syncopated percussion, it gives this song a really unique feeling. It grooves really nicely, and I can't seem to stop my head from bobbing to the beat as I listen. Awesome and unique piece!

Really got into this piece. Like wow. At first my attention wasn't fully there, but once it hit that 1:14 mark and the awesome violin/fiddle part came in, you had my full attention. Really awesome lead melody, it really captured a somewhat mystical feeling, which gave the song a really cool feeling. The percussion was super on point too. I liked the accentuated hats at certain parts to give the song a nice flowing rhythm. All in all, I feel the intro may have been a little too long, but at the same time it did build up pretty nicely. But that would really be my only criticism, the rest of the song was really well put together, and was a very enjoyable listen :)

nmarnson responds:

Thank you. I worked hard on it, changing this, throwing out that. I really liked you r schon piece as well.

I like it! It's got a lightly creepy feel to it. Like creepy, but at the same time just kind of happy. Which I think fits the name so well. Really nice piece! :)

VideoGameManiac responds:

Thank you! That creepy atmospheric feel you get must be because of how I use my pads :D and believe it or not but I sometimes spend more than 2 hours to find a weird title name that fits my song xd

I've been playing music my whole life, and more recently have started trying my hand at composing. I write emotional orchestral arrangements and RPG style music mainly, so check out my music and leave your comments.
